How this works, in plain English.
Nothing here is written to catch anyone out. If something seems unfair, tell us and we'll probably agree.
What we do
This is one student mentoring people through A-levels, university applications and spring week applications, one hour at a time. Not a company, not a qualified teacher, and not a regulated advice service.
We help you think, plan, prepare and edit your own work. We don't teach admissions tests and we don't do subject tutoring.
What we can't promise
We can't promise you grades, offers, interviews or internships, and we won't imply that we can.
Anyone in this industry who guarantees an outcome is selling you something. What we can promise is that we'll be honest with you, including when the honest answer is that a choice looks unrealistic or that you don't need us.
Your application has to be yours
UCAS requires personal statements to be the applicant's own work, and they run similarity checks. We will read your draft, ask questions, challenge it and tell you what isn't landing. We will not write it, dictate it, or hand you sentences to paste in.
The same goes for CVs, cover letters and application forms. If you'd like something written for you, we're the wrong people.
We also won't share confidential interview questions or assessment material from any firm, including ones we've been through ourselves.
Sessions, paying and cancelling
Booking and paying
£40 an hour. Pay after the session, or monthly for whatever was used, by Stripe link or bank transfer. Nothing upfront and no minimum commitment.
Reading drafts and replying to messages between sessions isn't charged.
If you can't make it
First missed session, no charge, and we'll check you're all right. After that we ask for 24 hours' notice, otherwise the session is charged.
If we cancel on you, that session is free when we rearrange it.
Your right to cancel. You have 14 days to change your mind about booking. If you ask us to start within those 14 days and then cancel, you pay for what's already happened and nothing more. Just email us.
If you're under 18
A parent or guardian books, is copied on messages, and can sit in on any session. Everything goes through a channel a parent can see. Sessions can be recorded if you ask.
If you're unhappy with anything, email hello@grinduni.com and we'll respond within two working days.
Complaints, and the boring bit
If an hour wasn't worth it, tell us and we won't charge you for it. That's the whole complaints procedure and we'd rather use it than argue.
We're liable for the service we provide, but not for the decisions you make or for the outcomes of applications, which we don't control. Nothing here limits your legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, or our liability for anything the law says can't be limited.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
