GrindUni

A free talk for your Year 12 or 13 group.

No cost, no catch, and nothing sold to your students in the room. We would rather be useful and let people find us afterwards if they want to.

What we can talk about

  1. 01

The new personal statement, from someone who answered it recently

Forty minutes on the three questions, what each is asking, and the openings that waste a student's first two hundred characters. Best in September or early October for Year 13.

  2. 02

    Applying to competitive STEM courses

What Imperial, Warwick, Cambridge and similar actually look for, how the admissions tests fit into the year, and where students usually lose ground. Includes the reapplication route, which schools rarely cover.

  3. 03

Year 12: making the year count

Super-curriculars that are worth the time, which competitions to enter and when, and how any of it turns into an application eighteen months later.

  4. 04

    What happens after the offer

For sixth forms with students heading into finance, quant or tech: what a spring week is, why first year matters more than anyone tells them, and what we would have done differently.

The practical bits

What we need

Forty minutes to an hour, a room, and something to project onto. In person around London, online anywhere.

What it costs

Nothing. If students or parents want hourly sessions afterwards that is £40 an hour, the same as for anyone, but we will not mention it in the talk.

Happy to send over anything your safeguarding lead needs before we come in. Just ask.

One ask, if you would like to help

If the talk is useful, a line in a parents' newsletter saying we exist is worth more to us than anything else, and costs you nothing. If it is not useful, tell us that instead. We would genuinely rather know.

Get in touch and we will find a date.

Start whenever

Fifteen minutes to work out what you need, or an hour to get on with it. Nothing to buy upfront and no minimum.
