Because the things that decide these applications are not written down anywhere yet.
- A model knows the deadline a firm advertises. A mentor knows the week it actually stopped reading, because that is the week their friends stopped hearing back.
- A forum knows a firm uses a video interview. A mentor sat that one in October and can tell you what it asked and how long you get to think.
- A careers adviser has read the guidance. A mentor was in the room, heard what the interviewer said on the way out, and knows what it meant.
